With a diverse community of more than 800,000 residents, you can expect there are tons of festivals and annual events to look forward to in Columbus. From January to December, you’ll find at least one festival that will pique your interest here.
Here are a couple of events that you must check out in Columbus, Ohio. We won’t be mentioning the Ohio State Fair, which has a history going back some 160 years or the Columbus Asia Festival that draws a crowd of more than 100,000 visitors to the city.
Rather, we’ll focus more on the lesser-known, but still exciting festivities that come here each year without fail.
One of the main events in Columbus Ohio is the Columbus Sports, Vacation and Boat Show where residents and visitors get a chance to check out new boats, motor homes, travel trailers, and campers from a variety of manufacturers. They also get to attend seminars and live demos from top fishing experts and anglers from the country. It is the perfect chance to get a hands-on experience of fishing gear, specialty boats, and outdoor equipment.
For the scrapbookers in the family, the Scrapbooking Expo is a chance to check out the latest trends in papercrafts, scrapbooking, card making, and rubber stamping. The Memories Scrapbooking Expo is the perfect opportunity to shop for everything that involves paper crafting. You’ll get albums, specialty papers, card-making supplies, and embossing and quilting supplies. You also get to attend a couple of parties and attend some classes on scrapbooking.
Hosted by the Time Warner Cable, the Columbus Arts Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Art lovers will drool over the collection of fine arts, gourmet food, and music. There’re also tons of fun activities for the whole family that include hands-on exhibitions and a playground for little ones.
The historic German Village hosts the annual German Village Haus und Garten Tour which attracts more than 6,000 visitors every year. There’s no set venue for the festivities with numerous households getting a chance to host the party every year. During the festivities, you get to check out award-winning house designs and restorations unique to the German culture. There are also garden demonstrations where you can pick up a few gardening tips as well as a marketplace where you can buy unique home and garden accessories.
