It’s not hard to find something to do in the capital of Ohio. The more than 800,000 residents living here, and tourists, often flock the top-ranked attractions in and around the city.
As a matter of fact, the hardest thing about exploring the city is making time to fit all the activities and fun places to visit. Some will have to wait until your next visit, or when you find yourself with some free time in your hands.
To make it a little bit easy, here are a few places you must visit when you get to Columbus.
If you’re looking for an authentic Columbus experience, then the Shops at North Market is where you want to go. This is where to find candy makers, bakers, and butchers in the city call home. You’ll also find greengrocers and fishmongers sell their wares too, meaning it is the first place you’ll go for fresh produce.
Columbus North Market is located on the public market since it opened up shop in 1876. Not only do you get to shop for everything you’ll need during your stay in the city, but you also get to mingle with the diverse community in the metropolis.
Are you looking to enjoy a game of baseball? You’ll want to head over to Huntington Park which is a favorite haunt for residents and tourists alike. Huntington Park is home to the Columbus Clippers, the Triple-A affiliate for the Cleveland Indians. You might meet one of the rising stars here and even get an autograph before they make it to the big league. Game tickets are affordable, and the atmosphere is as electrifying as you’d expect from a ground that holds 10,000 fans.
Started by the first German immigrants to arrive in Columbia in the 19th century, the German Village still retains its Germanic roots from back then. You get to explore the architecture and delicacies unique to the culture. Make sure you try the delicious sausage, cream puffs, and schnitzel offered by the Schmidt Restaurant and Sausage Haus.
The botanical gardens at Franklin Park Conservatory, with its numerous flower, Chihuly, and tree species, are precisely what the doctor ordered for an afternoon of peace. There are more than 400 species of plants from all over the world in the park’s greenhouses. You can catch the numerous exhibitions at the park throughout the year including the “Blooms and Butterflies” garden show.
